What are the steps of emulsion PCR?

Posted January 18, 2023

Answer

Emulsion PCR (emPCR) is a typically utilized technique for template amplification in various NGS sequencing platforms. The main principle of emPCR is compartmentalization and dilution of template molecules in water droplets during a water-in-oil emulsion. EmPCR allows for amplification of DNA molecules and therefore avoids the formation of chimeras and other substances between similar DNA sequences. EmPCR also allows for a large number of PCR reactions to be carried out simultaneously.
