Answer
Characteristics of Ferritinophagy:
- Ferritinophagy is a selective form of autophagy where cells degrade and recycle ferritin via the autophagy receptor NCOA4.
- Ferritinophagy-induced cell death releases decorin, which activates innate and adaptive immune responses and inflammatory factors like tumor necrosis factor and IL-6. It can also trigger an anti-tumor immune response by releasing ATP and HMGB1 during ferroptosis.
- Similar to general autophagy, ferritinophagy involves altered expression of autophagy-related genes (ATG5, ATG7), an increased LC3II/LC3I ratio, and genomic instability.
- In diffuse B-cell lymphoma, ferritinophagy triggered by eprenetapopt (APR-246) is characterized by TP53 (tumor protein p53) mutations.
