What phase does apoptosis occur?

Posted August 14, 2024

Answer

The DNA damage checkpoint system includes sensors that detect DNA damage the G1, S, or G2 phases. This network helps in repairing DNA and stopping the damage from being passed to daughter cells. However, if the damage is too extensive and cannot be repaired, the activation of these checkpoints can trigger apoptosis to remove cells with severe DNA damage.
