What are the similarities between separating gel and stacking gel?

Stacking gel and separating gel are both made from polyacrylamide. Both use a buffer system to generate an electric current that facilitates the movement of charged molecules through the gel. Both are used in polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE).
