  • Maintaining the composition of tissue fluid 
  • Maintaining the volume of blood
  • Transporting lymphocytes and antibodies to the blood
  • Preventing microbes and foreign substances from invading the lymph nodes
  • Keeping the body cells moist
  • Absorbing fats from the small intestine through lymphatic vessels
