What are the functions of cytoplasm in a cell?

Posted June 17, 2024

Answer

The two main functions of the cytoplasm is to provide structural support to the cell and help maintain its shape. It also serves as a medium for the transport of molecules within the cell, facilitating the movement of nutrients and other substances between organelles. Additionally, various important processes occur within the cytoplasm including protein synthesis and glycolysis. Monomers necessary for the formation of the cytoskeleton are also found in the cytoplasm. Lastly, the cytoplasm acts as a storage site for various molecules including ions, nutrients, and waste products.
