What are the examples of enzyme-catalyzed reactions?

Posted July 25, 2024

Answer

Examples of enzyme-catalyzed reactions:

  • Inversion of cane sugar: The invertase enzyme breaks down cane sugar into glucose and fructose.
  • Conversion of glucose into ethyl alcohol: Glucose breaks down into carbon dioxide gas and ethanol in the presence of the enzyme zymase.
  • Conversion of milk to curd: The conversion of milk to curd is an enzyme-catalyzed reaction that is brought about by the lactobacilli enzyme present in curd.
  • Decomposition of urea into ammonia and carbon dioxide: The enzyme urease catalyzes this decomposition.
  • Conversion of starch into maltose and maltose into glucose: Starch get converted to maltose in the presence of enzyme diastase and maltose gets converted to glucose in the presence of enzyme maltase.
