What are the disadvantages of PCR-Elisa?

Posted September 11, 2024

Answer

One disadvantage is its accuracy as it’s challenging to achieve the same level of quantification precision with PCR-ELISA as with real-time PCR. For example, PCR-ELISA doesn't measure the exact amount of the gene of interest as accurately as real-time PCR. Another con is that PCR-ELISA is limited to detecting DNA and RNA sequences. This makes it highly effective for diagnosing pathogens, but less effective for immunological studies and the diagnosis of immune disorders or cancers that require measurement of specific proteins and peptides.
