What are the applications of PCR-Elisa?

Posted September 11, 2024

Answer

One application is that PCR-ELISA is used to detect viruses in clinical specimens such as blood, biopsies and serum. This method provides a reliable way to diagnose viral infections by identifying the presence of viral DNA or RNA. Another application is that PCR-ELISA can be used to determine genetic variations in individuals, such as identifying carriers of recessive genetic diseases. A third application is in environmental settings such as hospitals, where PCR-ELISA helps monitor and identify fungal and bacterial samples. PCR-ELISA is also used in epidemiology to track the spread of pathogenic strains and monitoring the emergence of new strains. PCR-ELISA can also be used to determine genetic variations in individuals, such as identifying carriers of recessive genetic diseases. Additionally, PCR-ELISA is used to screen blood donations for contaminants, such as hepatitis B antigens and HIV-specific IgG. Another application is in food safety, as it's used for the rapid detection of pathogens like salmonella in dairy products and other food. Lastly, this technique allows for precise diagnosis of pathogenic bacteria and fungi, including determining the species level.
