What are the different types of redox reactions?

Different types of redox reactions include: combination reaction, displacement reaction, decomposition reaction, comproportionation reaction, and disproportionation reaction. 

  1. Combination reactions involve two or more substances combining to form a single product. This type of reaction often involves elements or compounds reacting with oxygen. 
  2. Displacement reactions occur when one element replaces another in a compound. This can be divided into metal displacement (where a metal replaces another in a compound) and non-metal displacement (where elements like hydrogen are displaced). 
  3. In a disproportionation reaction, a single substance simultaneously undergoes oxidation and reduction. 
  4. Comproportionation reactions are the reverse of disproportionation reactions, where two substances with different oxidation states react to form a product with a single oxidation state. 
  5. A decomposition reaction involves breaking down a compound into two or more simpler substances. This process can yield at least one product in its elemental form.
