The total cost of an immunoprecipitation assay can vary widely depending on the type of antigens that are used. However, as a small-scale technique, it is considered to be relatively inexpensive when compared to other techniques such as column affinity chromatography. 

Researchers prefer to use pre-packaged immunoprecipitation kits instead investing in large amounts of materials that they don’t need. These kits include most if not all of the components needed to carry out an immunoprecipitation assay.
