Can CD31 also be used as a marker for platelets instead of CD41?

Answer
CD31 is a marker for platelets. However, it may be more advisable to use CD41 to identify platelets, since CD41 is primarily expressed on platelets and megakaryocytes (which produce platelets), while CD31 is expressed on not only platelets but also endothelial cells, granulocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, natural killer (NK) cells, and T-cells.
