Pluronic® F-127
10% solution in water
Pluronic® F127 is a detergent that can improve the water solubility of hydrophobic molecules, such as AM esters
and lipophilic tracers.
Pluronic® F-127, also known as poloxamer 407, is a surfactant polyol (polyoxypropylene-polyoxyethylene block
copolymer). It has a molecular weight of approximately 13 kDa and is provided as a 10% solution in water.
Given its amphiphilic nature, Pluronic® F127 has been found to help solubilize and disperse dye molecules in
physiological media, such as Hanks' Balanced Salt Solution (HBSS). Data shows that it is relatively non-toxic to
cells. [1, 2]
While concentration is often experimentally dependent, this table provides a guideline for some common Pluronic®
F-127 uses:
