Acetylcholine is found in a number of locations. It is primarily found in:
- The central nervous system, which is made up of the brain and the spinal cord
- The peripheral nervous system, which encompasses the nerves that branch out from the central nervous system and connect with all other parts of the body including the organs and muscles
- The neuromuscular junction, where the nerves meet muscle cells
