What's the advantage of receptor mediated endocytosis over pinocytosis?

Answer
Since receptor-mediated endocytosis is selective, it targets only specific substances that match its receptors. On the other hand, pinocytosis involves the non-specific uptake of fluid from the extracellular space. Receptor-mediated endocytosis also has the ability to carry larger molecules while pinocytosis involves the uptake of smaller particles, typically less than 100 nanometers in size. A third advantage is that receptor-mediated endocytosis is more efficient in absorbing specific molecules compared to pinocytosis, which non-specifically takes in extracellular fluid and dissolved substances.
