Nervous tissue, which is composed of neurons and glial cells, is a specialized type of tissue found in the nervous system. Neurons are the primary cells of the nervous system which function to transmit information in the brain via chemical and electrical signals. Glial cells protect and also support the neurons by delivering nutrients.
