What is forward osmosis?

Posted June 11, 2024

Answer

Forward osmosis is a water separation process. It involves the use of a semi-permeable membrane to separate water from a solution that contains undesirable dissolved solutes by leveraging the natural energy of osmotic pressure. In this process, osmotic pressure transports water across the membrane while retaining the dissolved solutes on the other side of the membrane.
