What is AKT?

ATK, also called protein kinase B or PKB, is a serine/threonine specific protein kinase which plays a vital role in regulating the balance between cell death and survival pathways. AKT is made up of three homologous isoforms which are: AKT 1, AKT2, and AKT3. AKT has various downstream effects and targets over 100 different substrates.
