Answer
Solubility refers to the maximum amount of a substance or solute that can dissolve in a given amount of solvent at a specific temperature. The two main factors that cause solubility are the physical and chemical properties of the solute and the interactions between the solute and solvent. Stronger attractions between solute and solvent result in greater solubility. Weaker solute-solvent attractions result in less solubility. Temperature and pressure can affect solubility of a substance.
