What are the similarities between reversible and irreversible enzyme inhibition?

Answer
Reversible and irreversible inhibition are two types of enzyme inhibition pathways that are initiated when an inhibitor binds with an enzyme. Both types of inhibition mechanisms reduce the catalytic activity of the enzyme. Both also lower the compatibility between the enzyme and its substrate, inhibiting the enzyme-substrate complex formation. Both reversible and irreversible enzyme inhibition help to regulate metabolism.
