What are the similarities between adult and embryonic stem cells?

Both stem cell types exist in multicellular organisms. They both also have the capability to differentiate and multiply into more stem cells. Additionally, adult and embryonic cells play a role in tissue repair and regeneration. Adult stem cells play a role in the repair and sustaining of tissues in the adult body. Embryonic stem cells are able to form any type of cell during early development.
