What are the general properties of TRITC-dextran?

Posted May 10, 2023

Answer

TRITC-dextran is a conjugate of TRITC. TRITC-dextran is fluorescent, and emits red light when excited by a certain wavelength. It has an excitation maximum at 550 nm and an emission maximum at 571nm These conjugates are also water-soluble, making them convenient to use during experiments. TRITC-dextran conjugates also have high MW ranging from thousands to million daltons. They are also biocompatible and non-toxic, making them useful for in-vivo research. Lastly, properties of TRITC-dextran conjugates are dependent on size. For example, systemic endothelial cells surrounding the lumen of blood vessels are optimally labeled using sizes of dextrans greater than 70 kDa.
