One example of a hypertonic solution is a 3% saline solution (a solution with 3% sodium chloride in water). Another example of a hypertonic solution is a 10% dextrose solution (D10W). A third example is that the inside of a red blood cell has a higher concentration of solutes than fresh water, which means fresh water is hypertonic compared to the cell's interior.
