- It is less sensitive than the indirect detection technique and may be better suited for applications in which the primary antibody is highly specific and there is a sufficient amount of target proteins.
- Every primary antibody needs to be labeled, which can add to the cost and time.
- It cannot be used for other applications down the line because the primary antibody is tagged with a label.
