What are the differences between acid base reaction and precipitation reaction?

Answer

Acid base reaction

An acid base reaction refers to a chemical reaction in which an acid and a base react with each other.

In an acid base reaction, a strong acid reacts with a strong base and a weak acid reacts with a weak base. During the process, anions and cations combine, resulting in the formation of salt and water. The end result is the neutralization of acid and base.

Precipitation reaction

A precipitation reaction refers to a chemical reaction that ends with the formation of a precipitate.

In a precipitation reaction, the reactants are two soluble salts. During the process, the two soluble salts react with each other, forming an insoluble salt called the precipitate. The end result is the formation of a solid mass or a suspension (the precipitate), which sinks to the bottom of the container.
