Nitrocellulose membranes are generally more affordable compared to PVDF membranes. They also have a high affinity for proteins, especially for small proteins and peptides. Nitrocellulose membranes are also compatible with a wide range of detection methods, including chemiluminescence, fluorescence, and radioactive labeling.
