What are strong bases and weak bases?

Posted January 4, 2024

Answer

In contrast, a weak base is a substance that only partially ionizes in solution (<100%), resulting in a limited release of hydroxide ions. All strong bases completely ionize in solution and result in a large amount of hydroxide ions, and some common examples of them include potassium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide. Common weak bases include ammonia and sodium bicarbonate.
