What are bones made of?

Posted June 17, 2024

Answer

Bone is made of a combination of protein, collagen, and minerals, particularly calcium. Minerals, mainly calcium phosphate, are incorporated into a framework made up of collagen. The mineral provides the bones with hardness and strength while the collagen provides flexibility so the bones can resist breaking.
