Are osteogenic cells stem cells?

Posted June 17, 2024

Answer

Yes, osteogenic cells are stem cells of the bone. They are undifferentiated bone cells that are derived from mesenchymal stem cells. In response to some stimulation, they divide and differentiate into osteoblasts, which are bone-forming cells and which further give rise to other bone cells such as osteocytes, which are the primary bone cells in the bone matrix, and bone lining cells.
