How does osmolarity affect cells?

Posted May 31, 2024

Answer

Osmolarity affects cells by causing water to flow from areas of lower osmolarity (less concentrated solution) to areas of higher osmolarity (more concentrated solution). In simpler terms, cells in hypertonic solutions will lose water and become more concentrated, while cells in hypotonic solutions will gain water and become more diluted.
