How do I store diluted acid?

Posted May 24, 2024

Answer

Although diluted acids are not as corrosive as concentrated acids, they are still corrosive in nature and proper care must be taken with regards to storage and usage. Small quantities of diluted acids, such as amounts required to be used with pH meters, can be stored on a bench provided after proper labeling. Larger quantities of diluted acids should be stored in an upright, tightly-closed container and placed in a dry, well-ventilated location, preferably in a wooden cabinet dedicated to storage of acids and other corrosives. It’s best to avoid metal cabinets as acids react with metals and cause corrosion.
