How are mitochondria different from other organelles?

Answer
Mitochondria possess their own DNA and are surrounded by two membranes, which is not how typically organelles are structured. Unlike most cellular components, mitochondria reproduce independently of the cell's division cycle. This means that mitochondrial replication isn't tied to the cell's own replication process. They also differ from other organelles since mitochondria are the primary organelle responsible for generating energy in the form of ATP through oxidative phosphorylation.
