RNA polymerase I makes rRNA. RNA polymerase I is found only in the nucleolus of eukaryotes, a specialized nuclear substructure where ribosomes are assembled. RNA polymerase synthesizes ribosomal RNA (rRNA) transcripts in the nucleolus. These transcripts are directly involved with the production of ribosomes.
