What is the significance of DNA replication?

Answer
DNA replication is the process by which a double-stranded DNA molecule is duplicated to create two DNA molecules that are identical to each other. This is crucial for maintaining genetic continuity.
DNA contains all the information required for the production of protein and enzyme synthesis essential for a cell to live. When a cell divides, it is critical that the two new daughter cells that are generated contain a complete set of chromosomes as the parent cell. In the absence of replication, the daughter cells would lack the vital protein synthesis machinery that is essential for survival. This could lead to serious complications.
