Answer
There are two main types of DNA sequencing methods– Sanger Sequencing Method and Next-Generation Sequencing Methods
- Sanger Sequencing Method: In the Sanger Sequencing Method, the target DNA is replicated several times, producing fragments of different lengths. The sequence is determined using fluorescent chain terminator nucleotides that mark the ends of the fragments.
- Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) Methods: There are several different Next-Generation Sequencing Methods. Also known as High-Throughput Sequencing (HTS), these methods can process a large number of molecules faster than the Sanger Sequencing Method. This is because the reactions are done in parallel with multiple sequencing reactions taking place at the same time.
