Does exocytosis use ATP?

Answer
Yes, exocytosis is a type of active transport that requires the use of energy, such as ATP, to transport molecules out of the cell. Intracellular vesicles primed for endocytosis utilize motor proteins and a cytoskeletal network to transport its contents to the cell surface for export. These motor proteins use ATP hydrolysis as a means to power this movement. In addition, both synaptic vesicle fusion and the disassembly of SNARE proteins requires energy.
