While batch culture and continuous culture vary significantly in their protocol, they are both used for similar purposes. Batch and continuous cultures are used in microbiology to grow microorganism and carry out fermentation, a process used for the production of biopharmaceuticals, biofuels, chemical building blocks and various biochemical compounds.
