C-terminal-binding protein 1 (CtBP1) is a 48 kDa protein that can be found in the nucleus, nucleoplasm and transcription repressor complex of cells. In humans, C-terminal-binding protein 1 plays an important role in organismal processes, namely, protein phosphorylation, viral genome replication and white fat cell differentiation. It plays an important role in cell cycle. C-terminal-binding protein 1 upregulates histone deacetylation on the other hand also downregulates transcription by RNA polymerase II, transcription, DNA-templated and cell population proliferation.
