Purified Mouse Anti-human/mouse/pig MAP2 Antibody *MT-07, monoclonal*
Microtubule-associated protein 2 (MAP-2) is a 200 kDa protein that can be expressed in the dendrite cytoplasm, basal dendrite and proximal neuron projection of cells. In humans, MAP-2 takes part in processes such as cellular protein localization, organelle transport along microtubule and microtubule polymerization. MAP-2 has been thought to be involved with key functions like structural molecule activity. It recognizes τ protein, calmodulin and microtubule. MAP-2 plays a role in the downregulation of microtubule polymerization, axon extension and microtubule binding. But it also is a positive regulator of anterograde synaptic vesicle transport and anterograde dense core granule transport. MAP-2 plays an important role in organismal processes, in particular, dendrite morphogenesis, microtubule cytoskeleton organization and dendrite development.
