Tubulin β chain is a 58 kda protein that can be located in the cell body, protein-containing complex and cytoplasmic ribonucleoprotein granule of cells. In humans, Tubulin β chain has been associated with important functions such as GTPase and structural molecule activity, and additionally, plays an important role in synapse organization and G2/M transition of mitotic cell cycle, and additionally, recognizes MHC class I protein, ubiquitin protein ligase and protein-containing complex. It has been found to be involved in organismal processes, in particular, natural killer cell mediated cytotoxicity, spindle assembly and cell division. Tubulin β chain is clinically significant because abnormalities in its function have been thought to be involved with diseases such as congenital symmetric circumferentialSkin creases-1 (CSCSC1) and complex cortical dysplasia with other brain malformations6 (CDCBM6).
