Immunoglobulin κ light chain is a 27 kDa protein that can be located in the plasma membrane, immunoglobulin complex and extracellular region of cells. In Homo sapiens, immunoglobulin κ light chain plays an important role in organismal processes, for example, adaptive immune response. Sequencing of immunoglobulin κ light chain has demonstrated it contains 2 conserved structural units: Ig-like 1 and Ig-like 2 domain.
