Transmission to Absorbance Conversion Calculator
Absorbance measures the amount of light absorbed by a material at a particular wavelength, and is a unitless quantity typically denoted by the symbol "A". Transmission, on the other hand, represents the fraction of incident light that passes through a material without being absorbed or scattered, and is expressed as a decimal. The formulas to convert between the two values are as follows:
A = -log10(T) T = 10-A
To use the calculator, enter either absorbance or transmittance and the other will be automatically calculated.
