Cadmium oxide (Also known as: Cadmium Monoxide, (CdO)) appears as brown crystals or brown amorphous powder. It is used as an electroplating chemical and in the manufacture of cadmium electrodes, and as a component of silver alloys, phosphors, semiconductors, glass and ceramic glazes. It was formerly used by veterinarians to kill worms and parasites. It can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol and by ingestion. Suspected human carcinogen.
