Where does RNA editing occur?

Answer
RNA editing occurs in the nucleus, mitochondria, and in plastids as well. RNA editing processes are thought to have evolved independently of each other. RNA editing sites are mainly in noncoding regions of introns, and only a small portion of RNA editing occurs in coding regions that result in an amino acid change. Additionally, RNA editing has been seen in mRNAs, tRNAs, and rRNAs.
