Answer
Glycolysis is an integral aspect of cellular respiration. It is also the first step of cellular respiration and takes place in the cytoplasm of all living organisms, including aerobic and anaerobic organisms. The process does not require oxygen and is the only source of respiration in anaerobic organisms.
In the cytoplasm, one 6-C molecule of glucose is partially oxidized to produce two 3-C pyruvate molecules, water, two high-energy molecules of ATP and two molecules of NADH.
