Where are bound ribosomes located?

Answer
Bound ribosomes are attached to the surface of the rough endoplasmic reticulum at complex anchoring stations called translocons. The presence of ribosomes gives the endoplasmic reticulum a lumpy appearance, which is why the portion containing the attached ribosomes is known as the rough endoplasmic reticulum. Most proteins synthesized by bound ribosomes are transported outside the cell.
