What is CLIP-tag?

Posted June 20, 2024

Answer

CLIP-tag is a self-labeling protein derived from human O6-alkylguanine-DNA-alkyltransferase. It is a modified version of SNAP-tag but engineered to react with benzylcytosine derivatives instead of benzylguanine derivatives. Developed to complement SNAP-tag, both, CLIP-tag and SNIP-tag technologies can be used to label two fusion proteins simultaneously with two different probes in one experiment.
