Answer
Chromosome is a thread-like structure composed of protein and a single molecule of DNA. It is located inside the nucleus of plants and animal cells and is responsible for passing on the genomic information from parents to offspring. Chromosomes have a unique structure that keeps DNA tightly wrapped around histones, which enables the lengthy DNA molecules to fit inside the cell.
