What is Bridging PCR (BPCR)?

Posted June 17, 2024

Answer

Bridging PCR (BPCR), also known as jumping PCR, is a variant of the standard PCR method. Bridging PCR combines 2 processes: recombination between 2 template sequences and amplification of the recombinant template. In BPCR, the primer-bound sequences originate from separate template molecules initially. Bridging can only occur when the templates share a similar sequence.
