What cells release cytokines?

Answer
The two main cells that produce and release cytokines are helper T cells (Th cells) and macrophages. However, cytokines may be produced and released transiently by almost all nucleated cells, particularly inflammatory cells. Whereas T cells and macrophages release large amounts of cytokines on activation, most other cells require specific differentiation and activation conditions to release cytokines.
